Dr. Scumpia is a board certified endocrinologist with special interest in thyroid disease. With an extensive background in teaching, research, and clinical practice, Dr. Scumpia combines special clinical expertise and bedside diagnostic skills with in-house state-of-the-art lab and thyroid imaging procedures.
Dr. Scumpia's special interest in Thyroidology includes Hashimoto disease, thyroid antibodies, use of T3 preparations, and evaluation of thyroid goiters, nodules, and cancer.
Dr. Scumpia is one of the few endocrinologists who offers, in selected cases, an alternative antithyroid medication to radioactive iodine in the treatment of Graves disease and hyperthyroidism.
