Dr. Margo Block grew up in a small town in Kansas and is happy to be returning closer to home. Her philosophy is to listen to her patients, and tailor each patient’s treatments to their specific needs. Dr. Block joined Midwest Brain, Spine, & Neurology in 2008 after completing a one year fellowship focused on epilepsy and intraoperative monitoring. Dr. Block’s focus is on epilepsy, women’s issues, and neuro-intraoperative monitoring, although she sees all neurological problems.
Dr. Block has published clinical research in the fields of epilepsy and neuro-infectious disease. She presented her research at the American Epilepsy Society meeting in December 2008. She was chosen by her colleagues to serve as chief resident in 2006-2007.
Volunteer activities include providing her services at the Jackson County Free Health Clinic.

Steven Wilkinson, MD

Steven B. Wilkinson, M.D joins Midwest Brain and Spine Associates after serving nearly thirteen years at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he was a professor of neurological surgery.
At the University of Kansas Medical Center, Dr. Wilkinson was an integral part of the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Surgery Center. The center offers a wide range of services for various movement disorders including Parkinson’s disease, dystonia, essential tremor, and other related disorders. Providing three important components — patient care, research, and education — the center is designated a National Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence and a National Institute of Health Center for Neuroprotection in Parkinson’s Disease.
A graduate of The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine, Dr. Wilkinson previously served as interim Chairman of the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Dr. Wilkinson’s post-graduate education includes studying neurosurgery at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s in Chicago, neurotrauma at Cook County Hospital in Chicago, and extra-cerebral vascular diseasestudies at The University of Tennessee, Memphis.
Dr. Wilkinson’s experience comes in areas involving movement disorders, specifically in epilepsy and Parkinson’s disease.
Besides being the principal investigator in research studies, Dr. Wilkinson frequently has published numerous articles lending his insight to medical journals including Journal of Neurosurgery, Neurosurgery, Journal of Neurosurgery and Psychiatry, and Neurosurgical Focus.
